Midsummer is one of the most important holiday in Sweden and dates back to a very old celebration of summer and vegetation. The maypole is Midsummer’s main attributes. The word “maypole” comes from the word “maja”, which means “to decorate with leaves. ‘To maja, that is to adorn with leaves, is known for a very long time in Sweden. Maypole has likely spread to Sweden from Germany during the Middle Ages. Fotos comes the next few days.
